Bangkok was established during april 6 1782 by his majesty the king Rama 1 formally established the new capital, call it krungthip the official name "Krungthep mahanakhon amonratanakosin Mahintara Ayutthaya Mahadilok popnoparat ratchatani burirom udomratchaniwet mahanasan amonpiman avathansathit sakkathattiya witsanukamprasit" and never refer to their capital as Bangkok, this name came to be used only by a foreign visitor in the kingdom.But bangkok is derived from two primitive thai words Bang means village and kok means olive. short term means village of olive because Bangkok is a small fishing village and agriculture land where the plum orchard and wild olive (makok in thai )are grow.
